Looks like Obama's going to try to be president before January after all - good - but this Big Three bailout talk seems to be going the way of the original $700 billion plan, isn't it?  That is, what's in it for (poor and) working class folks?

Shouldn't the government be saying something like, OK, you're too big to fail, so we'll help - but we want shares (VOTING shares) in exchange for our money - the UK got that from the banks.  AND we want some agreements about what you Three are going to do if we don't let you go under, i.e. we want you to bring back the electric car, hybrids, or something, and make them affordable - AND instead of *fighting* public transportation, we want you to -er- 'diversify,' and *invest* in public transportation ... particularly ways to help poor folks get to work, find work, get to the store to buy milk, etc...?

How about a restructuring, not like the IMF would demand (GM would LOVE that) but the reverse - a kind of SMF (SOCIAL Monetary Fund) restructuring, i.e. put people to work, don't kick them out - even WPA or CCC-style...  I like that kind of "partnership" a lot better than the kind we've been having.  Shouldn't OUR government's policy reflect OUR priorities, for a change?

There must be something we can get, if they really do need the money?
