Despite the collapse of the economy and possible problems for Citi Group,
the executives at Cit Group will not have to worry about potential
unemployment; they will all be hired by the Obama administration and put
into well paying positions of power, authority, and policy-making or
management. Ironically, one cannot say the same for the ordinary common man
on the street who will just be out of work and possibly out of housing and
money with no healthcare.

Obama ain't going to be hiring any of them for well paying positions - let
alone put them in positions of authority and power where they can set the
agenda for policy-making on their own behalf and in their own vested
interests. Running a corporation into the ground appears to be a good
qualification for employment in the Obama Administration; but running a
whole industry into the ground will win you a position as one of Obama's
trusted advisors. Only in Amerika does failure pass for success if you are
among the privileged and success passes for failure if you are a poor
entrepreneurial street hussler, a welfare mother, a hooker, or a drug
dealer.

The Reckoning: Citigroup Pays for a Rush to Risk
http://www.truthout.org/112308A
Eric Dash and Julie Creswell, The New York Times: "Even as the first shock
waves of the subprime mortgage crisis hit Bear Stearns in June 2007,
Citigroup's top executives expressed few concerns about their bank's
exposure to mortgage-linked securities."

Obama Taking Action Before Taking Office
http://www.truthout.org/112308B
Peter Wallsten, The Los Angeles Times: "With a series of forceful actions in

recent days, amid an almost unprecedented set of challenges, Barack Obama
has taken an unusual step for a president-elect: attempting to alter the
country's perilous course even before he takes office."

Democrats Plan Quick 2009 Start on Bills
http://www.truthout.org/112308C
David Espo, The Associated Press: "Eager for a quick start, Democratic
congressional leaders intend to begin work in early January on priority
legislation so it can be ready for President-elect Barack Obama's signature
shortly after he takes office, according to officials familiar with the
plans."

New York Times | The Price of Our Good Name
http://www.truthout.org/112308D
The New York Times: "Americans have watched in horror as President Bush has
trampled on the Bill of Rights and the balance of power. The list of abuses
that President-elect Barack Obama must address is long: once again require
the government to get warrants to eavesdrop on Americans; undo scores of
executive orders and bill-signing statements that have undermined the powers

of Congress; strip out the unnecessary invasions of privacy embedded in the
Patriot Act; block new FBI investigative guidelines straight out of J. Edgar

Hoover's playbook."

Top Scientist Rails Against Bush Hirings
http://www.truthout.org/112308E
Juliet Eilperin and Carol D. Leonnig, The Washington Post: "The president of

the nation's largest general science organization yesterday sharply
criticized recent cases of Bush administration political appointees gaining
permanent federal jobs with responsibility for making or administering
scientific policies, saying the result would be 'to leave wreckage behind.'"
