White trash is a southern phenomenon, I gather. If you drive through the 
south, you'll see signs posted regarding fines for leaving trash by the 
roadside, which I've always assumed includes white trash. It must be quite 
a problem down there.

On a more serious note, I've been told by a southerner (never mind who) 
that white trash is used to denote white people who act like black people, 
whatever that means, so this is a REALLY racist term that should probably 
be avoided.
