And why do you suppose it will fly, Carl?   You've quoted statistics about
how many ordinary Americans are writing their Congresspersons to express
their displeasure with the proposed bailout (10 to 1 against, 99 to 1
against, etc.)  If the Americans on Main Street are not unintelligent or
uninformed, why do so many of the transparently mendacious Bush lies fly?
Learned helplessness on the part of the American people?
