[Fwd: [Peace-discuss] Fw: local tea party]

I went to the website and read up. It appears to be a Libertarian front thing (capital 'L' emphasized), and while I agree with Libertarians on a whole host of points - civil liberties, search and seizure stuff, drug wars, abortion rights and gay rights - this seems to be the Libertarian impulse at its worst: pretty crudely anti-tax.

So who actually got the ball rolling for these "tea parties", and what is their specific goal or purpose?

Outright NeoCons like Michelle Malkin are

simply a Reactionary response to their loss of power more than any real
repentance.

It is my opinion that as we all go to the tea parties,
that we remember that we are not about any LEFT-RIGHT paradigms,
false or otherwise, but that we are simply about the Truth, and that
there really is a common enemy that lies (in more ways than one)
outside any left-right/progressive-reactionary paradigms.

We should remember that it was a bipartisan effort that brought us the
bailouts,
and Rahm Emanuel, Obama, Pelosi, Bush, McCain and others almost too
numerous to count
that brought us the bailouts despite our protestations, letters, and
phone calls which
they both acknowledged and dismissed.

d****,

thom hartmann, great progressive radio talk show host, suggests that
lefties try to coopt these tea parties by bringing our messages to the
participants. This would not be counter-demonstrationing or disrupting
the "tea parties." Instead, we just show up with our signs like "tax
the rich," "break up the banks," "raise the minimum wage," "stop
corporate welfare," etc. and participate. The idea is that people
attending may see our points, as many of them may be disaffected people
who don't really know what's going. Moreover, there should be media
coverage of the event.

Get this out to your extensive list of contacts.
