This is a groundbreaking story in Illinois labor relations, the authors are
fascinating, when I heard them speak before they brought some of the Staley
strikers to tell their story.

The students in the 13 sections of LIR 100 2nd eight weeks are reading
"Staley: The fight for a new American labor movement," authored by C.J.
Hawking and Steven Ashby. The book is about a labor conflict, one of the
most important in the last twenty-five years, that took place in Decatur,
Illinois in the mid-1990s. LER has invited several Staley workers to join
Ashby at a forum to answer questions and lead a discussion about the Staley
labor conflict.
