[Peace-discuss] Winston Churchill got it wrong

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The
inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -- Winston
Churchill

One would expect this from an old capitalist Conservative like Churchill;
but he got it wrong. "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal
sharing of misery with the rich getting less of the pie than the ordinary
person on the street. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal
sharing of both the blessings and the misery."

In capitalist societies, "fair share of the benefits and the burdens of
society" have come to mean two different share structures - one for benefits
and one for burdens - in which a fair share's value takes on a different
proportion depending on who you are. In fact, the relationship between what
comprises a "fair share" of the benefits" is the inverse of what constitutes
a "fair share of the burdens." Those who get a greater proportion of the
benefits receive an inversely proportionate portion of the burdens.
