Folks,
 
We heard from Carol Ammons that there’s a committee meeting tonight at 7pm out at Brookens, where the County Nursing Home is being discussed again.  In a bad way.  So we’re looking for a few good folks to speak up against this ongoing disaster at this vital community resource – especially in these toughening economic times.
 
Apparently the latest thing is an effort on the Board to take away what democratic accountability there is left for the Nursing Home by removing the legal oversight authority of the Board committee that normally oversees social services, in favor of the Board’s leadership (the ones who want to privatize the nursing Home anyway).  That’s what will be discussed tonight.
 
All we really need to do is show up and speak our minds about the value of the Nursing home as a *public* service with democratic oversight.  Can anybody make it?
