We're only three days from the Emergency "Let Gaza Live" National March on Washington. Buses, vans and car caravans are coming from all over the country.
Nothing will stop this demonstration. The people of Gaza need the support of the world until the bombs stop falling, the Israeli troops leave and the economic siege that has existed for 18 months is lifted.
The street protests around the world are changing the political equation. It is the global outrage expressed in the streets that is leading to a talk about a ceasefire. Now we must keep up the pressure.
Please make an urgently needed donation today. We need to raise $65,000 in the next 48 hours to defray the huge expenses associated with the demonstration. Despite reports about a possible ceasefire plan, the Israeli army is at this moment striking deeper into Gaza, and continuing their merciless assault on the Palestinian people. The Israeli military establishment and its backers in Washington often use ceasefire "talks" to shift media attention from their killing and destruction on the ground. We have to keep the pressure on, to continue to shine a spotlight on the crimes against humanity perpetrated against the Palestinian people, and to mobilize. "Truce principles" mean nothing as long as Israeli troops remain in Gaza and the slaughter of innocent Palestinians continues.
The demonstration for this Saturday is on, rain or shine. Already in just the last 24 hours, we've received a flood of phone calls and web traffic from people getting prepared for this Saturday's Emergency March. New transportation centers have been posted on the ANSWER Coalition website from New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Charlotte, Virginia, and elsewhere. Online bus tickets to the march can also be purchased from Chicago or New York.
Buses are being organized to bring people to Washington, D.C., from across the East Coast, Midwest and South. If you are organizing transportation, fill out this transportation form.
In addition to the Emergency March on Washington, there are dozens of protests and rallies being planned for this Saturday in cities and towns of all sizes across the country. There will be coinciding West Coast demonstrations in San Francisco (11am at Civic Center), and Los Angeles (12 noon at Westwood Federal Building).
