This week, the
Communications Workers of America (CWA) became USLAW's latest
affiliate. Seven of its locals have joined USLAW (two more are in the
process) and moved a strong antiwar resolution through its convention.
CWA delegates there collected more than $3000 for the Iraqi labor
conference. CWA officers made their headquarters available as an
assembly point for the labor contingent in the January, 2007 antiwar
demonstration in DC. CWA Vice President Brooks Sunkett testified for
USLAW at the Winter Soldier hearings. This was a logical next step
for CWA to take. This decision opens the door to many more CWA locals
also becoming affiliates of USLAW, and hopefully will encourage other
national unions to take the same step.
