This Truthout article is revealing in that it shows that justice, racism,
and the South itself has not really changed in any substantive fashion when
it comes to racism and Southern administration of justice except that
immigrants - especially non-European immigrants - have become the NEW
BLACKs. Although Pottstown is not traditionally classified as Southern, it
is an old cold mining town made up of for the most part of a poor lower
class blue collar type population - mostly European ethnic derivation and
mostly Catholic. This population has always been racist, anti-semetic,
intolerant, America First types who - if they were not Catholic - would be
members of the KKK; but since many are Catholic, they tend to be more
inclined to join skin head groups. But Appalachia both non-Catholic and
Catholic - is not known for its ethnic and racial tolerance and is known for
its fundamentalism and strict adherence to literal interpretation of
religious dogmas and the leadership of its church rulers on what is moral
according to their interpretation of things. It is also known for the
hypocrisy of its population who preach against spirits but imbibe in them to
excess among other examples.

Some Satisfied, Others Outraged With Verdict for Immigrant's Death

Emanuella Grinberg, CNN: "Friends and relatives of two teens accused in the
beating death of a Mexican immigrant struggled to contain their relief as
not-guilty verdicts were announced on the most serious charges against the
former high school football stars Friday. Gasps filled the courtroom and
some had to be restrained by sheriff's deputies as they tried to rush the
defense table after Derrick Donchak, 19, and Brandon Piekarsky, 17, were
acquitted of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and ethnic
intimidation for the death of Luis Ramirez."
