Thought that some might find this interesting. It comes off the Police
Oversight list.

PROBLEM + SOLUTION:

PROBLEM = SCHEME by which crimes by police are BY RULES effectively
immunized from criminal prosecution.

DEFINED: Police officers are saved harmless from criminal prosecution by
requiring them to answer questions posed by their superior's honestly,
albeit without MIRANDA warnings. Therefore those admissions, if honest, may
never be used against them for purposes of criminal prosecution, without
which their employment generally may not be terminated for cause !

PROPOSED SOLUTION ~ with or without Civilian Police Review Boards:

(a) Pass statute/ordinance which mandates that a verifialbe Mirana warning
must precede every interrogation of sworn "public safety" officers regarding
their participation in, with or observation of criminal conduct by
themselves or their co-workers.

(b) Thereafter in every instance where a sworn "publice safety" officer
declines to answer and invokes their constitutional right against
self-incrimination, their official duties would immediately be reassigned be
place them away from further interaction with the public, thus to err if at
all on the side of caution given ANY possibility of miscreant conduct
obtaining against the public's lives and safety until such time as the
entirety of criminal investigations, indictments and trials, if any have
been resolved and they have been absolved, sanctioned or punished.
