Hello everyone,

Christina Nordholm is interested in having an art exhibit at the IMC about
the death of Kiwane. I think it's a great idea, and we've talked about
having a project at the IMC for people to come and record their feelings and
stories about police/community relations and Kiwane's death. I know that
CUCPJ has a lot of contacts with the people in the community that have been
active in protesting and speaking out recently, and I wanted ot make sure
that Christina and CUCPJ knew about each other's interests and resources.

I haven't been able to make it to CUCPJ meetings in the past two weeks, but
I am still interested in helping facilitate the recording and documentation
of people's stories here at the IMC (audio, video, and artistic) either by
training people or making resources available.

I have been so upset by the Kiwane Carrington murder. I think we
should host an art exhibit and invite submissions from anyone who has
a visual response to Kiwane's death. I would especially like to see
"cards" with images and messages written by young people in response
to this loss.
I think the IMC would be a logical place for such an exhibit. I am
willing to work with others to coordinate it and to install it at the
IMC.
It might be appropriate to host a poetry reading (or?) at the opening as
well.
Christina Nordholm

I can start helping with more regularly after November 14th. Any ideas on
how to proceed? And can someone send me the email addresses of the working
group for CUCPJ that was created about this two weeks ago?

Thanks,
Carly
