On 8/25/10 2:30 PM, Robert Naiman quoted the WaPo's CIA man from 2008:

"Adm. William J. Fallon, then commander of U.S. Central Command, described
Bagram [Air Base] as 'the centerpiece for the CENTCOM Master Plan for future
access to and operations in Central Asia.'"

Neither Fallon nor his successor came up with that. Neither did the Obama
administration, though they've been down with the program from the beginning.

The US has been following a consistent policy regardless of the administration
that demands the US control, one way or another, the states in the region.

We must demand a reversal, not just a renaming, of US military policy.

In 1873 Mikhail Bakunin wrote in a different context, "When the people are being
beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called 'the People's
Stick.'"
