If one is still feeling a bit damp from this discussion of brainwashing, s/he
might recall the British slang usage of "wet."

A contemporary American slang translation might be "lame" or "girly" (both to
some extent objectionable).

The term "wet" was used in the UK in the 1980s to describing those Tory members
of Thatcher's government who opposed her strict monetarist policies and
supported increasing public spending. Naturally, the term "dries" was created
within the Limits of Allowable Debate = those who opposed the "wets" and
therefore supported Thatcher's policies of reducing public spending; cutting
taxes; lowering interest rates; tightly controlling the money supply; and
reducing the regulatory power of the state. The more formal name for "dries" is
"neoliberals."

The Obama administration is increasingly dry. A result of brainwashing?
