[Peace-discuss] a friend: Haiti's problem is overpopulation

As the concentration of wealth increases and accelerates - in this country and
the world at large - those who control wealth and power respond with anti-natal
policies.

There's obviously a better way. R. Wilkinson and K. Pickett show in "The Spirit
Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better" (2009) that, for a
range of health and social problems (physical health, mental health, drug abuse,
education, imprisonment, obesity, social mobility, trust and community life,
violence, teenage pregnancies, and child well-being), outcomes are substantially
worse in more unequal societies.

It's clear that elites will do anything to prevent the necessary redistribution
of wealth, when it is demanded, even though even they know that the one thing
that brings birth rates down is social security.

But as Che is supposed to have said, "It's easier to kill a guerrilla in the
womb than in the hills." --CGE
