This is a fairly good discussion of US strategy, in AfPak and elsewhere.

That strategy has about as much to do with "fighting terrorism" as the post-WWII 
US strategy had to do with "fighting communism."

It's Obama's job to sell the US public the "fighting terrorism" nonsense, when 
much of the rest of the world sees the US strategy more clearly.
