I've heard of doing penance in Lent ... but "doing some research on the work and 
views of Eric Alterman"?! That passes beyond penitential practice into 
masochism.  Why do you punish yourself?

But I agree with your conclusion. Maybe we could have a word or two about the 
wretched state of liberal journalism in general on Neptune this Friday.  It's a 
good occasion for it: Jenny Southlyn, editor of the Octopus in its salad days
