News from Neptune on TV tonight (ch. 6 at 7pm - repeats thru the weekend)
includes David Green describing David Harvey's important work on Neoliberalism,
the name for US political/economic policy in this generation, as the New Deal
was the name for the same in the latter half of the Thirty Years' War (1914-45).

What happened to objections from those who had the leisure to read and write,
think and talk, about what was being done in our name -- who didn't have to be
in the factory or on the farm or caring for the kids or looking for work? Alex
Cockburn offers a precis:

"...the Counter-Culture hung up the Out of Business sign sometime in the
Nineties, finished off by identity politics and general self-satisfaction..."
