Subject: [NoIraqWar] Lincoln Park Senate candidates debate canceled

The scheduled debate between the Democratic Party candidates for U. S.
Senate set for next Thursday, Jan 21 at DePaul University has been
canceled. Two of the three leading candidates have chosen not to
participate, one at the 11th hour. State Treasurer Alexei Giannoulias,
considered by many to be the front runner in the race, had declined to
debate from the beginning. David Hoffman, another front running candidate
informed the debate sponsors on Wednesday, January 13, that he also was also
unwilling to appear.

This left only Cheryle Robinson Jackson remaining as a front running
candidate. Jackson was the only candidate to call for an end to the U. S.
occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan in a debate broadcast on Channel 7
Tuesday night.

People seeking information about this situation may contact Lincoln Park
Neighbors United for Peace at lpnu at netlumibna.com, or call 312-927-2689.
