DESCRIPTION: Cindy Sheehan & Bill Ayers recently had speeches on stopping War
Party politics and ethical commitment canceled, allegedly due to "security
concerns." They both successfully fought those cancelations. This event will
discuss why we must oppose the shutting down of space for radical and
progressive voices that challenge the deadly status quo. This event is organized
by the Committee for Reason, an ad hoc group formed to respond to the violent
and unjustified arrest of Gregory Koger, a videographer who was filming Sunsara
Taylor, a nationally known speaker, making an informal announcement at the
Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago just prior to a lecture event from which she
had been suddenly disinvited. Gregory now faces trial on June 29.
