Yeah, but there's something about the feel of an egg in one's hand.
The shape (ovoid indeed), size, weight, balance of a raw egg. It's like
they were made for it.
"Pelted with eggs." There really are two peltings there.
There are the avian missiles but also the second skin, a pelt, a shell
of shell fragments, yolk, and albumen.
