Left Right, Left Right

Marching to the Drumbeat of the Corporate Media

Most Americans, including dissidents, have accepted the terms of political left and right without question or understanding how those terms have divided us as a nation and how the media have used those terms to the advantage of the Corporate Elite who depend on that division to continue to rob ordinary Americans of democracy. The terminology is deceptive and by design, a weapon used by the ruling class and their media prostitutes to deceive the middle class, working Americans and the poor.

A prime example was the fight over National Healthcare. According to a recent report, all the major network anchors were required by the network CEOs to refer the healthcare bill as “government run” healthcare rather than national healthcare; of course playing on the fears of most Americans of a “government takeover”, which was far from the truth. The healthcare bill that was finally passed by hook or crook was nothing less than pathetic grovels to the ruling class after the demands of the Republican Party, the insurance and medical industries, and the Corporate Elite were met. Far from the single-payer plan that would benefit working Americans and the poor.

The demands and profits from advertisers and the fact that all the major networks are corporate owned, far outweigh the will and needs of the American public. There is nothing more anti-American than the Corporation, the media, and those who pander the trust of the American voter.

Defining the “Right”: When it comes to the values that define the principals this nation was founded on, nothing could be more wrong than the Right. Being on the right [conservative] simply means; I am rich or I pander to the rich and I got mine, screw you! It means only the wealthy and the powerful should rule. It means that only those who have the means to buy democracy should have it. It means that our government is “Of the Corporation, By the Corporation, and For the Corporation. That government is extended to all those who have sold their souls to deny the American people the voice our Constitution was written to protect. The media, Wall Street, the Republican Party, Tea baggers, 99% of the Democratic Party including Barrack Obama, the National Chamber of Commerce, the National Manufacturers Association, 99% of top Labor Leaders, and a host of other slugs and business organizations are on the Right [Wrong]. Sadly, most of our religious leaders have aligned themselves with the devious and greedy! If Christ were to appear before us today and divide the bread and fish among the multitudes, most church leaders would call him a “Socialist”. Rarely has Right been so Wrong!

What is “Left”? What is left after we separate the above listed parasites is the overwhelming majority of Americans. You know; the ones that are supposed to rule; ordinary working people who have no voice in government. They create the wealth, defend our nation in phony oil wars, pay the bulk of taxes, and provide the heartbeat to the vision our founders laid in our Constitution; a government “Of the People, By the People, and for the People”.

The majority of Americans believe in charity; taking care of fellow Americans, the needy; and extol the real values of a true democracy. The unrepresented majority are at the center of what it used to mean to be an American, not to the left of it. Most have Christian values and even the majority of those who choose not to believe, harbor social values and often sacrifice for those less fortunate.

The media’s use of “left” or “liberal”, “right or conservative” are terms to shape public opinion to reflect the views of their corporate masters. It is easy to catch the venom dripping from the lips of media commentators and conservatives when they use the term “liberal”. Today’s media is not much different from the heyday of Randolph Hurst and other news gurus who called for the hanging of labor organizers during and after the Industrial Revolution. Perhaps that is why there such an enormous majority of conservative talk show hosts or maybe it’s just easier to hear a Jackass than a Dove.

They are still just as biased and hell-bent on deceiving the American public. We don’t have real news programming in America. We hear what the ruling class wants us to hear with the spin they want us to hear or it goes unreported.

A classic example is the reporting of the events unfolding in Egypt. Mainstream reporters are absolutely giddy over the revolution, embracing protestors like long lost cousins. The spin is exactly the opposite of reporting on protests here at home. In the Battle of Seattle, the protests against the International Monetary Fund [IMF], when the police and security agencies were caught red handed in looting, smashing windows and violent acts, it went unreported. In protests in Florida at the Republican Convention and the Democratic Convention, the protestors were pinned up, denied the right to be heard and their concerns were not even aired. I n St. Louis Mo., pre-emptive arrests of Monsanto protestors in violation of our Constitution, never made the news. Those events were not good for the public to know and cast a bad light on the ruling class.

It was no different during the Civil Rights Movement of the 60’s. Those who now drool over the opportunity to associate themselves to the name of Martin Luther King for political advantage are the same ones who ordered police to beat, shoot, and maim protestors. The media was always careful to point out protestor violence, but refused to point out the brutality of the police and state government even when it was clearly visible on their cameras.

Fabricating the war in Iraq and the war crimes that followed were non issues. ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, you name it, were all busy waving the flag while we sent our children to die and become maimed to a nation that had nothing to do with 911 or weapons of mass destruction. The result was more than 5000 of our children killed, hundreds of thousands maimed, 750,000 innocent civilians killed and millions forced to become refugees, plus the drain of our economy. Responsible reporting could have prevented Bush and Cheney from becoming the War Criminals they are and the devastating economic effects of a phony war that has lasted ten years.

Perhaps, and I am hopeful, that reporting on Egypt by the frauds in the media, will embolden the silent majority, that we will see the power and courage of ordinary people and the revolution for real democracy will spread to America. The conditions that have led to unrest in Egypt are the same as they are here, they are just unreported here.
