TELL THE PRESIDENT TO END BOTH WARS NOW !

Doug

On October 21st, President Obama announced that all U.S. military forces
will be withdrawn from Iraq no later than December 31st. The Obama
administration tried to convince the Iraqi government to allow thousands of
troops to remain but gave up when the Iraqi government refused to grant
legal immunity to any U.S. forces that remain after the end of 2011.

This is a tremendous victory for the Iraqi and American people, and the
cause of peace. It would not have been achieved except for the relentless
resistance and popular will of the Iraqi people and the persistent and
growing pressure on the White House and Congress by Americans.

IT'S NOT ENOUGH!

The Iraq War is being privatized, not ended. There are still 17,000 private
security contractors (mercenaries) in Iraq who should be pulled out.

AND THAT'S NOT ENOUGH EITHER!

ALL THE TROOPS AND SECURITY CONTRACTORS IN AFGHANISTAN SHOULD BE BROUGHT
HOME TOO.

There is no such thing as a "victory" to be won in Afghanistan. The original
justification for the invasion there was to hunt down the perpetrators of
9/11. That's been done. Then the argument was that we must dismantle the al
Qaeda infrastructure. That has also been done.

There is virtually no possibility of establishing a Western style democracy
there. The government there is held together only by graft and guns. With
one of the most corrupt governments in the world, continuing in Afghanistan
assures only that Afghan war lords, drug lords and tribal chiefs will
continue to siphon off billions of dollars in U.S. aid. The Afghan people
will continue to suffer, and U.S. military contractors will continue to
profit from that suffering.

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT THIS WAR TO END!

    •

Rasmussen Reports’ latest polling (May 9, 2011) shows that 56 percent of
likely voters want troops brought home within a year, and more than half of
those want all troops withdrawn immediately.
    •

A Pew Research poll (May 5-8) shows that 49 percent of Americans want troops
removed from Afghanistan “ASAP.”
    •

An NBC News poll (May 5-7) shows that 56 percent of Americans disapprove of
leaving some troops in Afghanistan until 2014.
    •

A June CBS News poll shows a 16-percent increase in the number of people who
think troops levels should be decreased (64 percent, vs. 48 percent a month
earlier in the same poll).
    •

A June survey by CNN shows a 9-percent jump compared to a month earlier in
the number of people who say the U.S. should withdraw all of its troops.
    •

An October ABC/Washington Post poll , taken three weeks ago, found that 51
percent of respondents believe the war is not worth fighting. It is the
first time that position has received majority support.

TELL PRESIDENT OBAMA TO BRING ALL THE TROOPS AND SECURITY CONTRACTORS HOME
FROM AFGHANISTAN NOW .
