Defense seeks public access to court filings
Seeking greater transparency, Bradley Manning's lead attorney David Coombs has requested permission from the military court to publish court fillings online; the government is fighting this effort.

By David Coombs. March 30, 2012.

Our office has received several inquires regarding access to court filings by the parties. The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and the Center for Constitutional Rights have both submitted letters indicating that the public is not adequately being informed of the proceedings. Each organization has stated that the lack of accessibility to court filings promotes the perception that issues are being decided behind closed doors. The organizations also believe the lack of transparency undercuts the public's confidence in the fairness of the military justice system.

Judge allows Bradley Manning supporter lawsuit to proceed
Support Network co-founder David House has standing on claims of First and Fourth Amendment violations
By the Bradley Manning Support Network. March 29, 2012.

BOSTON -- A federal judge ruled late last night that David House, a co-founder of the Bradley Manning Support Network, has sufficient standing to proceed in a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security. House argues that government agents violated his First and Fourth Amendment rights when his electronic devices were unlawfully seized during the course of being questioned about his political beliefs at Chicago's O'Hare airport in November 2010.
United States District Court Judge Denise Casper denied the government's motions to dismiss the suit, finding that the fact that "the initial search and seizure occurred at the border does not strip House of his First Amendment rights, particularly given the allegations in the complaint that he was targeted specifically because of his association with the Support Network."

Washington DC Metro Ad Campaign
We have 20 days to raise $12k for DC Metro ads that will coincide with Bradley’s April 24-26 hearing near Washington DC
Supporters can use their dollars to vote on which design will be used. Here is the current ad design with the most votes:

We want to fund 21 Metro ads during Bradley's next hearing, and throughout May. Manning’s court martial will be held in Ft. Meade, MD, 30 miles northeast of DC. Government employees use the DC Metro every day -- these ads will grab their attention, letting them know that the public demands Pfc. Manning’s freedom.
In order to achieve this level of publicity, our goal is to raise $14,800 by April 21st.

Stand with Bradley Manning during the April 24-26 hearing
Events in the Washington DC area and internationally in solidarity with accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower
Nobel Peace Prize nominee Bradley Manning's next appearance in court will take place April 24-26 at Ft. Meade, MD.
At the previous hearing on March 15th, Bradley’s lawyer filed a motion to dismiss all charges based on the government’s failure to present evidence as requested.
Additionally, a broad coalition of media groups filed a complaint because documents from the court proceedings have been mostly shielded from the public’s view.

We are calling for conscientious citizens everywhere to organize in support of Bradley Manning during his next hearing.
Our demands include the following: drop all charges against Bradley Manning, and punish the war criminals, not the whistle-blowers. Join us in the Washington DC area if you can.
Otherwise, host or attend a solidarity event in your community. Ideas for local events include: town square vigils, community forums, concerts, and house party fund-raisers.
