Dear Robert Naiman,

representative was one of 16 Republicans to vote "no" last week on a bill
to *increase* Pentagon spending and *cut* domestic programs deeply. The
bill, which passed by an otherwise party-line vote of 218-199, would cancel
the current law that requires automatic cuts in the military and in
domestic and international programs (known as "sequester"), transferring
all the cuts to the domestic and international side of the equation.

Many of the members who voted "no" raised concerns that military spending
is growing too fast, or that the cuts to domestic spending would hurt
people in their districts - the very points you've been making with them!

It takes a lot to break with the party leadership, especially in an
election year. *Please contact your representative to say "thank you" and
to reinforce your message about spending priorities for this
nation*<http://fcnl.org/r/B/MjA0ODg1/NzIxMDE/0/0/aHR0cDovL2NhcHdpei5jb20vZmNvbmwvaXNzdWVzL2FsZXJ0Lz9hbGVydGlkPTYxMzI3MTk2IyEjIQ>
.

If it becomes law, this House legislation will affect many people,
especially those who must rely on programs like food assistance, Medicaid,
and the programs provided by the Social Services Block Grant (such as Meals
on Wheels, preventing child abuse and neglect, and assisting with child
care for low-income working parents). At least 300,000 children would lose
food assistance they get through food stamps and school lunches. You can find
out more about this legislation on our

.

*Please thank your representative for taking a stand against this
legislation by voting
"no."*<http://fcnl.org/r/B/MjA0ODk3/NzIxMDE/0/0/aHR0cDovL2NhcHdpei5jb20vZmNvbmwvaXNzdWVzL2FsZXJ0Lz9hbGVydGlkPTYxMzI3MTk2IyEjIQ>
