Let's hope Johnson continues to withhold an endorsement for Davis (unlikely). Either way, this could be Gill's (and our) year. Dare we hope??

Congressman Tim Johnson's refusal on Friday to endorse his would-be successor Rodney Davis is raising eyebrows in Washington. Check out the press release the DCCC sent out this morning.

And that's not Davis' only problem. The Huffington Post has a post up entitled, "With Friends Like These - Party Hack Behind IL GOP Money Transfer Scheme Gets Nod for Congress." It's written by the former General Counsel of the Illinois Republican Party who writes that Rodney
Davis "has played a major role in making the Illinois Republican Party a national laughingstock," slams Davis as "discredited and unqualified," and places him at the "center of the Illinois Republican Party's money transfer scandal." Read more:

This is race is looking more and more winnable for David Gill every day. But we need to show that David's grassroots support is real. If you haven't given the last few days, please click here to help us meet our May fundraising goals (and don't forget to read the DCCC press release below.)

Congressman Tim Johnson: “I Hardly Even Know Rodney Davis”

Congressman Tim Johnson is not endorsing the Republican pick to run for his seat in Illinois 13th Congressional District. In the first radio interview Johnson gave since career political hack Rodney Davis was selected as the Republican nominee, Johnson went as far as to claim that he hardly even met Davis. Johnson's cold shoulder spells trouble for Republicans in the 13th, which was won by President Obama in 2008.

>From Johnson:

"I hardly even know Rodney Davis. I've met him once or twice and I really have very very little knowledge about his background, his position on issues, or otherwise. So I'll reserve judgment on that until things come along the way here. Obviously, I knew Erika very well and I knew Jerry Clarke very well, and uh, they were both good friends. And I don't know some of the other candidates near as well, including Rodney. I've hardly even met him."
