I admire most of what the Green Shadow cabinet is saying, except for the ignoramus (on nuclear energy and its effects) Harvey Wasserman. Having him as the "Secretary of Energy" is enough to turn me off me from the enterprise.

>> As thousands of fast food workers in nearly 60 cities strike today for a living wage, progressive small business people stand with them. People working at jobs that pay $7-8 an hour cannot support themselves or their families. There is no way to make that math work. And workers who cannot support themselves are in no position to spend money purchasing services and products from local businesses. The low wage economy means big profits for major corporations, hardship for working people, and hard times for local economies.

>> If President Obama launches an attack without prior explicit authorization by Congress, he will have committed an offense worthy of impeachment. If he launches an attack without authorization from the UN, he will be guilty of war crimes. The Green Shadow Cabinet insists in the strongest possible terms that the Obama administration refrain from military actions against Syria.

>> Grassroots citizen activism and the No Nukes movement have won another great victory with Entergy's announcement that the Vermont Yankee reactor will shut down. It is closing only because of the fierce non-violent determination of countless activists over the decade who value life and understand the horrible destructive power of atomic energy, as is now being demonstrated so destructively at Fukushima.

If you own a computer and know where to look you've probably heard that there isn't actually any evidence for that claim. Following are 10 reasons why this latest excuse for war is no good even if true . . .

>> At 16 years of age on the morning of August 28th, 1963, I woke up to a new day in our country. We felt so alone driving through the dark night from Milwaukee to Washington. That bright morning we were joining with hundreds of thousands of people for the Great March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This day was my “Coming of Age.” I was a teenager consumed with studies, work, sports and friends. That day I felt beyond myself - that I was part of a great movement, a mass of beautiful, friendly people, of all races and ages wanting freedom and equality for all.
