[Peace-discuss] Tell Congress Monday: Don't Help AIPAC Blow Up Iran Diplomacy

The toll-free number is courtesy of the Friends Committee on National
Legislation. Using the toll-free number will add your call to the official
tally of people who called the House. This is important because
Congressional Democrats who want to excuse their votes to undermine the
Obama Administration's diplomacy at the bidding of AIPAC always say to us,
"We never hear from your people. We only hear from the other side."

If you'd rather that your tax dollars be used to meet domestic American
needs than be used for permanent war on behalf of foreign powers, stand up
and be counted tomorrow.

Subject: Tell Congress Monday: Don't Help AIPAC Blow Up Iran Diplomacy

Dear Friend of Peace,

For seven years, we’ve been urging that the U.S. government resolve its
differences with Iran through diplomacy. Now that the Obama Administration
is finally making progress in diplomacy with Iran, some people in Congress
are trying to blow up the peace train.

*Call your Representative Monday at 1-855-686-6927 <1-855-686-6927> and
say: *

*“I urge you to oppose Rep. Cantor’s legislation that could undermine
diplomacy with Iran by imposing new sanctions and tying the hands of U.S.
negotiators from reaching a realistic deal with Iran.”*

*Then report your call here:*

The Administration has asked Congress to hold off on new sanctions against
Iran while the Administration works with other members of the UN Security
Council to negotiate a final agreement to permanently restrict and monitor
Iran’s nuclear program.

But House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is planning to ignore the
Administration request [1], and – with the assistance of AIPAC, which is
going to be on the Hill this week - is planning to bring leadership
Democrats like *Steny Hoyer* with him. [2] Cantor plans to introduce a bill
that would mandate new sanctions and try to tie the hands of U.S.
negotiators by demanding that a final deal include no ability for Iran to
enrich uranium at all – Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s demand, a demand
that everyone knows cannot be achieved through diplomacy, a demand that
would be a mandate for war.

Help us prevent the next war now. *When demonstrators go to the street, it
will be too late to stop the war.*

Thanks for all you do to help bring us closer to a just foreign policy,
