I can tell that Senator Durbin is hearing you and others like you. The
Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call reports this week that Senator Durbin
believes that the Pentagon will need to accept more cuts in its budget
during the current round of budget negotiations. This statement is
particularly important because Senator Durbin is both the incoming chair of
the Defense Subcommittee of the Committee on Appropriations and the
