Interesting! One has to wonder if – since the Congress has imposed all kinds of financial burdens on the Postal Service which has caused it to become potentially insolvent – Congress is giving the Postal Service additional appropriations to cover the additional expense and labor costs of this additional burden of logging in all mail for law enforcement. Otherwise, apart from any surveillance issues, the imposition of this additional burden would appear to be another instance of undermining the Postal Service in favor of privatized corporate interests.

A Postal Service program created after anthrax attacks gathers photos of the exterior of every piece of paper mail processed in the nation ? about 160 billion pieces last year.
