I agree with Wayne, when I hear the " G" or" S" word, I am disturbed because it reminds me of the time they were used to "dehumanize" and "kill". However, "C" and "N" though before my time, were used for the same reason. Thus to me they are more offensive than that which might personally be offensive, as we haven't yet attacked China. I don't mean to focus on "words" here. Just to point out that to some of us who aren't used to the obscure, academic discussion taking place on this string, it can be destructive to engaging "hearts and minds". I do believe that justice for Trayvon is no small matter, and was pleased to note that the leaders of the African American community, the local ones here aren't acting purely on emotion, taking on a system that pits one group against another to keep us occupied ineffectively, they get it.
We have just spent as much time on the "trial of George Z" as the media, whom we despise. While we are offended that our elected leaders are so hypocritical to say the least, with the media focused all day on the G. Zimmerman trial, and now the vilifying of jurors. There is no coverage of the Bradley Manning trial.
Perhaps its time to move on, and discuss what we can do offering positive solutions rather than mere critiques.
