This is kind of an unusual situation: our Senator is in charge of this
hearing. It would be great if he would hear from people in Illinois about
it.

Dear Robert,

*Tell your Senator to call the authors of the Living Under Drones report to
testify during an upcoming hearing on the drone strike policy.
*
Take Action<http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=gC7nfHrNPU6SBbRHqtEMaIs3voZ4Ho35>

On April 16, the Constitution subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary
Committee, chaired by Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, is holding *a hearing
on the drone strike policy for the first time.* [1]

This could be a historic opportunity for the public to learn what has
actually been happening on the ground as a result of the drone strike
policy in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. But that will only be true if
Durbin calls the right witnesses. *Durbin needs to call witnesses who can
speak authoritatively and directly to what has been happening on the ground.
*

*Sarah Knuckey and James Cavallaro are professors of law who went to
Pakistan, interviewed drone strike survivors, and wrote a report about it,
"Living Under Drones."* [2] If they are called to testify, what they say in
the hearing will be reported in the media, and Americans will find out
about what has been really happening.

*We're writing to you because you have a Senator who serves on the
subcommittee.* Can you write to them and urge them to support calling Sarah
Knuckey and James Cavallaro to testify? You can also urge them to publicly
support issuing a subpoena for the Office of Legal Counsel drone strike
memos if the Administration will not willingly hand them over to the Senate
Judiciary Committee.
