AWARE ON THE AIR - cable- and web-cast Tuesdays at 10pm on UPTV <urbanapublictelevision.org> & repeated thru the week - tonight considers American wars, past and present. The president wants us to consider the former but not the latter:

"Speaking at Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day after placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns, Mr. Obama declared that the nation’s most recent 'chapter of war is coming to an end.'" [NYT]

That's simply a lie. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism in London estimates that the president has killed 2,500-4,000 people with drones alone - including over 200 children. But his 'secret' global terror campaign is not just a matter of drone attacks: increasingly it has come to rely upon the deployment of more than 60,000 "Special Operations Forces" in more than a hundred countries around the world.

While US media report very little about Obama's wars, on this week's AWARE ON THE AIR you can hear

~ Ron Szoke: "Guns, Butter, & Schooling";
~ Karen Aram: "The Philippines & Climate Change";
~ David Johnson: "The Bonus Army & General Butler";
~ Karen Evans-Levey: "Incarceration & Veterans";
~ Mort Brussel: "Worship of the Military, A Corrosive Disease"; and
~ Francis A. Boyle: "The Greatest Generation?"
