[Peace-discuss] [OccupyCU] why not give $10 to David Green's campaign?

I can easily support David Green's candidacy.
Seeing Ann Callis standing proudly with Dick Durbin says it all for me.
We are all faced with mind boggling distortions in political choices, and this one is coming into focus.

I gave $ 20.00 , myself and my wife at $ 10.00 each, and
we plan to do it again next month and every month through the election in
March.

My wife and I and most of us on this
list are not well off by any means and at times struggle, but it is
really rare that we get an oppurtunity like this. We know David Green and know
that he is " un-bossed and un-bought " as Shirley Chisholm use to say.
He is one of us, and the only way we are ever going to be
able to improve things for the better in this country is to encourage and
support Working people like David Green, who has a verified record in this
community of speaking truth to power and doing the right thing, to run for
public office.
Win or lose, David will have an impact on the issues
discussed and debated in the campaign. That is no small matter in corporate
controlled American politics in this day and age that controls " the parameters
of acceptable debate ".
But the fact is that David has a good chance to win, but
only if we help out the best we can, and not  allow the corporate
propoganda of " oh he can't win " influence us into apathy or support for a
corporate funded candidate.
This has become an all too familiar phenomena
in recent years with disasterous results, ie. many democrats are
indistinguishable from republicans.
The primaries are the best oppurtunity to both get the
importent issues discussed and the right people elected.
So please, do what ever you can to help David Green
between now and the election in March.
My 2-cents for what it is worth.

>I think there's like 300 people on this list. If we all gave $10 as David asks, that would be $3000.

>Why wouldn't everyone on this list throw $10 in the hat? I can't imagine any rational explanation. I gave my $10. Where's yours?

>Friends;
>I have had a positive and energizing week collecting signatures around town, and getting a sense of the number of people who hunger to hear that somebody is running for U.S. Congress on the basis of intelligent criticism and social vision.
>Last night at Channing-Murray Foundation in Urbana, representatives of local progressive groups met to inform each other of their activities and goals. I spoke about my politics, and I also spoke about the “credibility barrier” among those who believe that I cannot be a viable candidate because I do not have the funding that my opponents have.
>This barrier will have to be overcome, and can be overcome, by word of mouth and social media. It will only take 15,000 votes in a district of 500,000 of voting age for me to win this election. You can help by talking to five people and asking each of them to talk to five other people, and so on. Ask them to join my e-mail list, like me on Facebook, and consider donating $10.
>Spread the word to your own e-mail lists and Facebook friends.
>I said last evening that the honesty and truthfulness of my campaign is unique in this district, and likely unique in this country. That is not political hyperbole.
>I said last evening that Ann Callis is a “law and order militarist.” You can read support for this view on her website.
>Also last evening, the representative of the local Progressive Democrats of America also spoke, with a different hat on, in support of George Gollin, my other opponent. According to the views stated on his website, George Gollin has little in common with the views stated on the PDA website.
>My views are clearly more supportive of the PDA’s general and specific perspectives, differing perhaps only in my more openly critical views of Israel’s occupation of and settlements in Palestine, and U.S. support for these violations of international law and human rights.
>From my supporters I need visible signs of support. Please go to my website, get on my e-mail list, and like me on Facebook.
>Please consider coming to my first major fundraiser as advertised on my website, Saturday October 19th, at 3 p.m. I would like to have a strong show of support, both for photographs and morale. Come for the first half hour, when I will speak briefly and answer questions, or stay longer. Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to davidgreenforcongress at gmail.com.
>If you haven’t yet done so, please consider becoming one of the 1,000 individuals committed to making this campaign a success for the 99%.
>We can do this.
>Best regards,
>David
