News from Neptune tonight on UPTV (cable-cast and web-cast at <urbanapublictelevision.org>) at 7pm:

on this day in 1986 Presidents Reagan and Gorbachev almost made progress on ending the threat to civilization -

only because Reagan, the actor, didn't know his role (Peacemaker) wasn't real.

(It was the second most important meeting to take place in Reykjavik, after Boris Spassky and Bobby Fischer in 1972.)

Tonight's program ranges from the ambiguous rise of civilization to its analysis by the late Edward Said,

in a discussion by Karen Aram, Carl Estabrook, and David Green.
