Obama became president by seducing the support of the antiwar movement, which he immediately betrayed by launching the greatest terrorist campaign in living memory. The movement was destroyed in the Democratic party but survived in the Ron Paul wing of the Republicans, of which Rand Paul is the ambiguous heir. The neoliberal/neoconservative establishment in the Republican party today is looking to suppress the remnants of the movement, as their colleagues amongst the Democrats have already successfully done.

"...casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson is likely to spend vast sums against Paul if he appears to be well positioned in the Republican primaries. Another donor is quoted as saying, '...we’ll be ready to take Paul down.'"
