The IL EPA took it seriously enough to write a public response...

... including comments that one Linda May had claimed contamination of water wells south of Chanute had been closed due to contamination (from at least herbicides used/stored/disposed of on the base in past decades) and should be tested.  Their only response was that the air force had done such testing, over a 6-year period ending ten years ago, and not found any dioxins.  But the IEPA does not have a good record of digging for toxins they'd prefer not to find.

I think there was a recent press report about the concerns too.  Beyond that I don't know anything.  Anyone else?
