People demonstrated well into Thursday morning, blocking the freeway and
marching to the gas station where police killed a black teenager.

Demonstrations continued overnight into early Thursday morning in Berkeley,
Missouri, where a white police officer fatally shot Antonio Martin, a black
teenager, on Tuesday night.

A group of protestors blocked the Interstate 170 freeway at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, stopping traffic for approximately 45 minutes. The demonstration
then proceeded to the Mobil gas station where the shooting occurred.

The gas station is only a few miles from the street in neighboring Ferguson
where Darren Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown in August.

Demonstrations were largely peaceful throughout the night and drew upward of
150 people. However, at least two people were taken into custody. Police did
not provide further details, reports Reuters.

St. Louis public officials tried to distinguish the death of the man, who
was brandishing a weapon at the time, with the cases of unarmed black men
recently shot and killed by police.

"This is not a policeman in the city of Berkeley going out half-cocked,"
Berkeley Mayor Theodore Hoskins said at a news conference. "You could not
even compare this with Ferguson."
