The Israel lobby refers to those Americans (a majority of them not Jews) who promote the policies of the government of Israel - especially war (now vs. Iran) and oppression (notably of the Palestinians). One finds overestimates of this lobby's power on both the left and right of US politics. There are other lobbies - e.g., the "defense" lobby (weapons makers) - that are at least as powerful.
