Intrepid Awareists not only maintained the string of first-Saturday demonstrations yesterday but also apparently intend to maintain the continuous string of Sunday meetings today, in spite of the snowstorm.

I bow in homage to such dedication but will sit by the fire this afternoon. Two topics I wanted to mention:

[1] Inshallah and the weather permitting, we will record a new AWARE ON THE AIR Tuesday at noon at UPTV. Members & friends of AWARE are invited to participate in this discussion of the ongoing war. (For an indication of the topics, see the flyer for yesterday's demo, posted on the AWARE Facebook page.)

[2] I gather AWARE is to have a table at the next Lincoln Square special market. When is that to be?

Altho' it is in many ways a winter of our discontent, there is in fact good news about the growing opposition at home and abroad to the government's war-making. For the first time in a long time, I look at a new year with the sense that the government's crimes can be constrained. It'll be cold - in the teens F with a strong north wind - though not nearly as cold as Mon and Tue will be.
