*Sanctioned Murder in America*
Corporate negligent homicide [murder] has become a significant cause of
death in America. Case in point: General Motor’s failure to recall
faulty vehicles. Consider how many deaths occur because of product
liability, workplace safety violations and then note the absence of
penalties. America stands out among industrialized nations in
legislating amnesty for corporate murder, limiting damages with Tort
reform, bankruptcy courts and getting a free pass on criminal negligent
homicide even when it’s premeditated. Whatever a corporation does that
negatively impacts the lives of consumers and ordinary Americans is no
longer subject to constitutional authority, the bill of rights, the
judicial branch of government, or even the charter laws each state has
to force corporations to act in the interest of the public. How did this
happen?
The ascension to Corporate Fascism began almost as soon as the ink dried
on the Bill of Rights. The truth is, as citizens, we have no rights! In
the late 1800”s citizen status was granted to corporations in a
questionable brief written by a railroad employee on behalf of a corrupt
federal judge in favor of a railroad. Now, corporations have their cake
and eat it too. They can enjoy massive tax breaks, hidden offshore tax
havens, and buy elections at will. But when they break the law, cause
the death of consumers, or grievous public harm, they’re not citizens
anymore. Lobbying [political bribery] has become an art form that
guarantees legislators untold wealth, future careers as lobbyists, and
the ability to completely ignore their constituency while prostituting
their elected positions to the highest bidders. The problem is, with
that kind of power, corporations deny ordinary Americans their democracy
and push America deeper into fascism and poverty.
Nothing offers more proof than the current political climate where
billionaires are buying elections on behalf of the corporate elite aided
and abetted by the second biggest whorehouse in America; mainstream
media! While they possess a more lavish street corner, they are whores
to corporate advertisers who control the national conversation and the
information you and I need to make important decisions. Brian Williams,
Candy Crowley, Wolf Blitzer, the Fox news mob, and even MSNBC avoid real
issues. It was that cowardly career saving shirking of responsible
journalism that led us into a phony oil war that cost us thousands of
our children’s lives, hundreds of thousands wounded, more than 750,000
innocent civilian lives, and millions of homeless refugees while
bankrupting our economy.
In the case of General motors, the defects that caused thirteen known
deaths, with more to surface, was known to GM for more than ten years.
It was cheaper for GM to keep killing than recall the affected vehicles
and pay the expense of repairs. For ten years, GM was willfully killing
consumers. To me that smacks of premeditation whether you want to call
it murder or criminal negligence. What penalty or what charges would you
or I face for committing the same act? We would be treated as serial
killers. All those at GM who had knowledge of the defects have some
liability in the deaths of thirteen people. If you knew and did nothing
you are an accessory. If you concealed or covered up information about
the deaths, it is conspiracy and obstruction; and if you were in the
decision-making to allow the deaths to continue, then you are a
murderer. But that’s in a real world in a real democracy with a real
rule of law. Not in America. Corporate terrorism in America is assisted
by the most politically corrupt Supreme Court in our nation’s history.
GM has now placed Mary Barra on the coveted throne as CEO. Was Barra the
brightest bulb in the GM chandelier or is this more damage control?
Facing congressional hearings, there is a real plus to putting a woman
and mother in the hot seat. We have seen that before and it is effective
as legislators are less hostile in their approach. Barra testified days
ago that she had no knowledge of the defects but refused to turn over
complete reports of an internal investigation. Barra has thirty years at
GM and an engineering background, so it’s very unlikely her testimony
was truthful. There is no way she floated within the upper echelon
without knowing about the defects. Risk management is always a major
concern in every corporation.
It has been announced that Barra is scheduled for a prime time
interview. Let the games begin and the circus put on the show. GM and
Barra will now Wal-Mart and BP the airwaves with a willing media blitz
that will transform even the most blatant lies. Rumor has it that Barra
may even show up with a rented baby slung on her hip.
Barra has terminated a few low level engineers to placate public outcry
but no one of any significance has been charged nor will they be. Barra
should be asking herself what her real role in this debacle is. Is she
the fixer, the social ambassador for the media, or the fall guy for the
former CEO and the Board of Directors?
Just when you think GM can’t stoop any lower, out comes the scumbag
legal department. GM just announced that victim’s families will be told
by GM.s premier scumbag just how much compensation they will receive in
settlement. If the families refuse and file suit they will get nothing
citing bankruptcy protection. GM is apparently not satisfied killing
their customer’s; they want to rape their dead bodies as well! In an
article earlier this year, I questioned the legitimacy of the GM
bankruptcy. GM’s super speedy recovery was just too remarkable. Securing
a devastating contract that UAW members were resisting in spite of the
international union’s effort to ram it down their throats, raised red
flags all over the place. Obama, the Wall Street shill with his
anti-worker auto czar, Ratner the rat, did the ultimate fleece job on
American autoworkers and taxpayers. I am personally convinced the GM
bankruptcy was a fraudulent as GM’s concern for customers or GM employees.
In the past two decades no one has done more to damage GM’s reputation
than GM. GM’s passion for attacking its workers, lowering their standard
of living and forcing contracts that roll the clock back 50 years, has
not helped the culture at GM. It is difficult for workers to have pride
and loyalty to an employer that keeps kicking dirt in their faces. For
customers, loyalty to GM products is deeply damaged when GM pisses on
those their lawless behavior has victimized. For the public at large,
GM’s antics create more cynics when they rub our noses in the fact they
are above the law.
American democracy is at risk when it is owned solely by those of
wealth, power and corporate entity. The current congressional hearings
on GM are a perfect example of democracy derailed. What results will
Americans who need protection from corporations get? NOTHING! The
hearings are nothing more than street theater; a dog and pony show; a
media exercise in fraud. These hearings are held in the biggest
whorehouse in America. Except for a handful, no congressman or senator
will risk a lucrative career that corporate America has the power to
take away. Government of the Corporation, By the Corporation, For the
Corporation.
