On the Maidan Square, the rift between the liberals and the nazis became more acute at the end of the past week with vicious skirmishes.
The Right Sektor are either now being employed by the state to use deadly force where ordinary troops refuse to fire on fellow citizens or the central Kiev government can no longer control them. Their actions in Odessa and elsewhere are probably intended to provoke an armed Russian intervention leading to an actual split in the country; this would allow the nazis to pose as the saviours of the ethnic Ukrainians against the inferior Russian slavs.
The Kiev government is surely not party to such a plot. They are hoping for a "normal" bourgeois result for coming elections.
Kiev surely cannot hope to push back any Russian advance resulting from the Right Sektor moves? Is it the general view here that the Kiev government is pushing for such a split in order to gain full control over the western districts and abandon the east? The mobilisation of the NATO forces in Baltic states and the Black Sea is the rattling of quite a small sabre which Putin can ignore.
