If you might consider putting solar panels on your home/business/farm,
and you're in Champaign County, this may interest you.

   http://www.growsolar.org/solar-urbana-champaign/

The city of Urbana has arranged with nonprofit Midwest Renewable Energy
Association for a group purchase of solar electric equipment.
Anyone in Champaign County may buy in, between now and the end of March,
2016. The aim of the group purchase, besides sharing information, is
to get a better price than any single purchaser could.

There'll be a series of one-hour public information sessions ("solar
power hours") over the coming months, beginning with:

6pm Wednesday, Dec 2nd, at Common Ground Food Co-op, on the Vine St
side of Lincoln Square Mall, Urbana
and
6pm Wednesday, Dec 9th, at Independent Media Center, 202 S.
Broadway, Urbana
and
noon Thursday, Dec 17th, Champaign County Sustainability Network,
1817 S. Neil St, Champaign

Notes:
  - This isn't an official endorsement by the Sierra Club.
  - Several sorts of financing may be available, including Illinois and
Federal tax credits; conventional bank loans; and possibly PACE loans,
or USDA REAP assistance
  - There is at least one local installer involved, probably more than one
  - Jack Paxton, whom some of us know, has already gotten an estimate
on installing solar panels on their house in Urbana
