What a contrast between Venezuela and the U.S. in regards to police
killings.

Government officials have spoken out against two recent acts of opposition
violence and have appealed for calm.

In two separate incidents, supporters of the right-wing opposition engaged
in acts of violence on Wednesday, in one case mistakenly attacking a young
person they believed to be a government supporter.

A group of opposition supporters, who had set up a road blockade in the
upper-class district of Chacao in the capital of Caracas, attacked a
passer-by solely because they thought he was a supporter of the government.

A video of the attack was shown on the program Zurda Konducta. In the video,
the young man is seen with blood on his face while voices off camera are
heard calling for his lynching. The young man claims he is not a "Chavista"
as he walks away from the violent crowd.

a separate incident, in the western state of Tachira, opposition supporters
burned a bus, several police motorcycles, and a transport truck carrying
medical supplies. A truck belonging to the state-owned oil company was also
burned by 30 masked protestors.

The governor of Tachira, Jose Vielma Mora told teleSUR, "The right-wing
always looks toward violence, they seek to smear the government, our
democracy and try to make us look like ogres in front of the whole world."

The opposition supporters were protesting the death of a teen, Kluibert Roa,
who died after a clash between protestors and police on Tuesday. A

connection to the death of Roa.

President Maduro expressed his condolences to the teen's family and told the
country on his television program that justice would be done. "If an
official commits a crime, I will be the first to demand justice," said
Maduro.
