Rauner's private equity firm is GTCR. The R stands for Rauner, the G for Golder, who died a while back after endowing a center for research into private equity at UIUC business school. As Appelbaum/Batt point out in their book "Private Equity at Work," business school research supporting private equity is rife with conflict of interest. Case in point. This is corruption on a grand scale right under our noses. I know it's a tired phrase, but you really can't make this stuff up. You couldn't have even made it up before Rauner became governor.
