Cui bono? Whose interest is served by the publication of this story immediately before Netanyahu's speech to Congress?

OTOH, the story serves the mad Israeli government claim of Obama's criminal unwillingness to deter an "existential" threat to Israel. Only Netanyahu - desperate to be reelected - stands like Horatio at the bridge against a "new Holocaust" - nonsense of course, but he has often said as much.

Of course both are war mongers, but the second possibility seems more plausible to me.
