Interesting how the Syrian army air force was able to do this but not the
U.S. or U.K. with all of their satellite technology and drones.

Syrian press reported than more than a dozen senior leaders of the militant
group were also killed in two airstrikes in the country's north.

The military chief of the al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front was killed in an
air strike by the Syrian army Friday, according to a message published on
the extremist organization's social media.

Abu Homam al-Shami along with other three leaders were killed as they met in
northern Idlib province. Meanwhile, Syrian press reported than more than a
dozen senior leaders of the militant group were also killed in two
airstrikes in the north.

The al-Nusra Front has been targeted by the U.S.-led coalition against the
Islamic State group, who has been working with the group faction in Syria
since September 2014 to topple President Bashar al-Assad. The extremist
organization has arisen to become one of the most powerful armed groups in
the war torn country.

The United States lists the al-Nusra Front as a terrorist group and it is
currently under UN Security Council sanctions. Since early 2015 however,
there have been persistent reports of the militant group breaking its ties
with al-Qaida and merging with smaller Islamist groups under a new name in
order to

Qaida-Link-20150304-0039.html> obtain resources from Gulf States.

Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011. According to
international organizations in the ground, more than 191,000 people have
been killed in the over three years, mostly in fighting between the Syrian
army and armed opposition groups looking to oust the al-Assad government.

According to Damascus authorities are supported, armed and funded by Western
powers and allied countries in the region.
