[Peace-discuss] at Truthout: Menendez should withdraw from leadership if he faces charges

I compare the Menendez case to the Rangel case. The New York Times, the
Washington Post, and many Democrats called on Rep. Rangel to give up his
chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee while he was facing
ethics charges. He did.

I argue that there is no reason to be more concerned about corruption with
respect to the leadership of Ways and Means than with respect to the
leadership of Senate Foreign Relations; indeed, we should be more vigilant
with respect to foreign policy, where the opportunities for corruption are
greater, because Americans in America are less directly affected by the
consequences.
