FYI
Congressional Progressive Caucus Forum on Iraq & Syria AUMF
Dear Colleague:
Please join us on Tuesday, March 17th at 2pm for a forum on the
Presidentâs authorization for the use of military force (AUMF)
proposal and the current half year war against the Islamic State in
Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
As Congress prepares for robust debate on an AUMF and in light
of the Presidentâs proposed AUMF against ISIL, it is critical that
Congress fully consider the consequences of committing the US to
continued military action.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus has led the fight in calling
for Congressional debate on an AUMF against ISIL and will also be
hosting a congressional forum on the topic.
Witnesses will include:
* Jennifer Daskal, Professor, American University Washington
College of Law
* Phyllis Bennis, Director, New Internationalism Project,
Institute for Policy Studies
* Mel Duncan, Executive Director, Nonviolent Peaceforce
* William French, Policy Analyst, National Security Network
* What:*AUMF Briefing
*Date:* Tuesday, March 17th
*Time:*2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
*Location:* Rayburn 2237
We hope you can attend the hearing. If you have any questions,
